Always the result of early subconscious programming that the trigger is a threat, phobias are surprisingly common. They can involve anything or situation you can imagine, from public speaking to zebras. Some can just avoid their triggers. For many others, phobias can significantly affect quality of life, relationships, and even jobs.
My decades of experience as a practitioner have shown that most phobic clients have been freed from their fears quickly and surprisingly painlessly by using Emotional Freedom Techniques and/or Picture Tapping Techniques. During this process, we’ve safely, gently, and non self-judgementally used the language of feelings to teach the subconscious mind “the rest of the story” about each trigger. Once completed, the conscious and subconscious mind are both on the same page.
Every feeling is attached to a belief. Addressing the feeling creates the opportunity to rewrite the old program one safe piece at a time without further trauma.
There are two categories of phobia I see. Simple phobias always have a root cause. An original triggering event or events, even if not remembered. These often resolve within a few sessions no matter how severe the initial fear.
A second category of complex phobias involve interlinked issues. For example, a fear of flying might be driven by a fear of relinquishing control. These multifaceted phobias have still responded very well using the same tools but require healing of the underlying elements before they can be fully resolved.
